Hi all. Patrick Crogan here. I am one of the academic Automation Fellows for the SWCTN. I teach media at UWE Bristol. For my fellowship I’m looking at whether creating things with automation and AI tech changes what creativity is in the creative process. The ‘creative’ in creative industry, creative economy, creative citizen etc. has always seemed to me to be more or less assumed to be a constant element but I’m not so sure.
I plan to interview some of my fellow Automation fellows (those who are more creative than me 😉 ) about their process to get some insights about this topic. I will post some reflections on these as I go along. In the meantime I will try to share some thoughts about this question of creativity, why I think it is important, and what my research on this so far has thrown up.
